This week the padded chairs we use at work at being taken out to get reupholstered, so I spent all morning taking them out of the room where they're usually used, a few hundred of them, and replacing them with plastic chairs. While I was working, one of the ladies who's using the room for an event came in and started whining about it. What she said: "Oh no, you're taking away our nice soft chairs and replacing them with hard ones?" what I said: "I'm just doing my job. Believe me, I'm not happy about it either." what she said: "But you don't have to sit in those hard chairs that hurt your tushy." what I wanted to say but didn't: "Yeah, that's because I obviously don't have a job where I get to sit around on my tushy all day." God I hate stupid people. I'm pretty stupid sometimes, too. Like a week or two ago when I was sitting on my bed playing Ms. Pac-Man (which has become a horribly time consuming daily habit, by the way; my high score is presently 128,060), and took off my glasses while playing, and then finished the game and got up and rolled right over onto the glasses. One of the arms (is that what they're called? arms?) was bent to like a 45 degree angle, it was bad. So of course I had to make it worse by trying to bend it back and snapping it right off. I'm so lucky my friend Kelly still works at Doctor's Vision Works, I stopped by there while she was working that day, and she was able to find a pretty similiar replacement arm, and bend it back almost to normal. It's still not quite straight, though. In fact it annoys me like hell now. But she did her best, it was really all my fault. I should probably buy a new pair sometime soon anyway. Summer feels like it's flying by, and I'm trying to savor it as best as I can, but I don't think I'm making the most of it. Last week I booked a flight to go out to see my brother in Wisconsin and stay with him for a few days in August the week before I go back to school. And that's less than a month away, so that's about all the summer proper that I have left. Sigh. At least I have that trip to look forward to, though. It'll be cool to see Zac, and maybe getting out of town for a few days will be the palate cleanser I need. -al
