Happy 4th! I'm going to go down to my dad's house in a little while to BBQ and see the fireworks. It started raining a little while ago, but hopefully that won't put too much of a damper on the occasion. I'm looking forward to this week because it will be the first in a while that I'm not working my ass off. For the past 3 weeks, I've worked 5 days at both of my jobs, for a total of more than 40-50 hours, but this week will be significantly less, which will feel like a vacation by comparison. That's maybe kind of twisted, feeling this relieved just to be working a little less. I thought not being in school would free up a lot more time than it has. But the summer is young, and there is much left to be done. Next weekend we're going to the beach to see my mom! The best news this past week, though, has been J.G. getting the army research internship she wanted. A couple weeks ago, they told her that they didn't have any openings but that they'd keep her resume on file. So she gave up hope of that and took a crappy housecleaning job for the summer. But, in her 2nd week of that, just as she was starting to get fed up with it already, the internship people called about an opening. She starts Tuesday. So she'll be busier now this summer and we might see a little less of each other, but it's ok, because she's doing something cool that will look good on her resume. -al
