Last week, the Ottobar held a screening of Superchunk's new DVD, "Crowding Up Your Visual Field", in their upstairs bar. Since it was free, and I was too broke to consider buying the actual DVD myself, I decided to go sample it. So I went and watched a projection on a wall with about a dozen other people on a quiet Tuesday night. Actually, they didn't really show the whole DVD, just the documentary feature, "Quest For Sleep", so I didn't get to see any of the videos or fun bonus stuff. It's pretty much standard tour movie fare, with live footage and lots of shaky handheld shots of the highway from the window of a van, and general silliness. Not quite "The Year Punk Broke"-level hilarity, but there are some pretty amusing exchanged between Wurster and Wilbur. And they really are a great live band, still. So maybe I'll pick that up sometime, to keep me busy til the next Superchunk album. -al
