So on Friday night, when I got out of work at 1 a.m., my car wouldn’t start. The battery was so dead, even the electric locks wouldn’t work, and absolutely nothing happened when I turned the key. Fortunately, my manager hadn’t left the parking lot yet, and he lives near me, so he was able to give me a ride home. I was in such a hurry to make sure he didn’t leave, though, that I didn’t think to check and see if I’d left my lights on or anything, so I figured that maybe because it was really really cold out that night, that my battery just didn’t like the cold.

J.G. was home from school for the weekend, and on Saturday she called to see if I could come up and hang out, but since my car was at work and I had no way of getting to it even if I could get it started, that was no go. But later that night she came down to see me, and on Sunday, we went to see about starting my car. Turns out that I did leave my lights on, which I’ve never done before, but I guess I was in a hurry to get to work on Friday and it didn’t occur to me. I’m a dumbass. But J.G. is my goddess of jumper cables, and we were able to get my car started successfully. I owe her big time for that, she rules.

After driving it around the parking lot a few times to warm it up, I took her out to lunch. I’m taking a review writing class this semester, and the first assignment is a restaurant review, and it’s due on Tuesday, 5 days after the first class, so I urgently needed to go somewhere new to have something to write about. We went to a place in the neighborhood that Mike reccomended, Courtney’s, and it turned out pretty well. A fairly nice place, expensive menu, but the ‘light fare’ stuff was in filling proportions, so it was all good. Probably my only big gripe in the review will be the slow service, but it was Super Bowl Sunday and they seemed to be spread thin, so I’ll go easy on them there.

In other automotive news, you may recall me mentioning in an entry a while back about when my Dad’s car got stolen while he was at a dentist appointment. Well, I talked to him the other day, and it turns out that after a couple weeks of searching high and low to see if it was towed somewhere, and then reporting it stolen, he went back to the scene of the crime one last time, and found the car, five spots down from where he thought he’d left it. And, as you may recall, almost the exact same thing happened to me back in August, and I freaked out for a day or so until I found my car. So I guess it runs in the family. Watch out, Zac, it might happened to you next.

In other crime news, my boy Scott got robbed at gunpoint last week, in front of the same house where I was hanging out with him a couple weeks ago. Which is crazy, because he lives in quiet neighborhood in a little college town. But at least he’s alright.
